SDH-044

Ultrasonic and strobe rodent repeller for engine bays, car trunks and garages, powered by 4×AA batteries or a DC 5–12 V vehicle supply.

SDH-044 emits changing ultrasound at 18–36 kHz together with bright white flashes to keep rodents and martens away from parked vehicles and garages. A built-in vibration sensor puts it on standby when the engine starts, and it runs on four AA batteries, the vehicle battery or a 5–12 V adapter.

Overview

A rodent repeller made for the engine bay, not the living room

SDH-044 is designed for vehicles and the spaces around them: engine compartments, passenger compartments, car trunks and garages. The manual also lists attics, basements, warehouses, barns, sheds and rooms. Each working cycle combines variable 18–36 kHz ultrasound with a white strobe, so rodents do not get used to a single fixed tone.

Because it is meant for parked cars, a vibration sensor switches the unit to standby when the vehicle starts and back to work when the car is stationary. It also runs on a timed cycle of 10 s working and 100 s standby, which keeps consumption under 0.1 W and lets a set of AA batteries last for months.

The unit ships with a vehicle power cable, a DC-to-USB cable and four cable ties for fixing it in the engine bay, plus an English user manual. An English + German manual is also available for EU markets.

Features

What SDH-044 does in each cycle

Ultrasound + strobe

Variable 18–36 kHz with white flashes

While working, the ultrasound runs 4 s on, 3 s off, 3 s on, and the white strobe flashes in 2 s intervals. The red indicator blinks once every 2 s. Sound pressure is rated at 110 dB.

Vibration sensor

Standby while the vehicle is running

When the engine starts, the vibration sensor puts the device on standby. When the car is parked and still, it switches back on. In standby the green indicator blinks once every 5 s and all other functions stop.

3 power options

4×AA, vehicle battery or adapter

Use 4×AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable, not included), connect to DC 5–12 V vehicle power with the included cable, or use a 5–12 V adapter (not included) with the DC-to-USB cable. With DC power, rechargeable batteries can be charged in the unit.

Installation

Fixed with cable ties, rated −25 to +65 °C

Fix it in the engine bay, trunk or garage with the four included cable ties. Keep it off the engine surface and leave space below the hood. It is not waterproof. At power-on it beeps at 4 kHz to show it is working.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about SDH-044

Can people hear it, and is it safe around pets?

The 18–36 kHz ultrasound is barely perceptible to the human ear; the only clearly audible sound is a short 4 kHz beep at power-on. The manual gives no pet guidance, so as with any ultrasonic rodent repeller, keep it away from pet rodents such as hamsters or guinea pigs.

How many units does one vehicle need?

The manual recommends 2 units for an engine compartment. For garages, attics, sheds or other rooms, tell us the space and we will suggest a quantity.

How is it powered, and how long do batteries last?

It takes 4×AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable, not included), DC 5–12 V vehicle power with the included cable, or a 5–12 V adapter with the included DC-to-USB cable. On batteries the manual expects about 3 months, because the unit stops while driving and runs at intervals when parked.

Does it work while the car is being driven?

No. A vibration sensor puts it on standby when the engine starts, and it resumes when the vehicle is parked. In standby the green LED blinks once every 5 s.

How should it be installed in the engine bay?

Fix it with the included cable ties away from the engine surface and hot parts, with space between the unit and the hood. It is not waterproof. For hard-wiring to the vehicle battery, the manual recommends a service station or auto supply store.

Which certifications are available?

SDH-044 has CE (EMC, EN IEC 55014-1/-2), FCC and RoHS test reports. It is produced in an EPA-registered establishment, EPA Est. 97987-CHN-1.
